Customer

This is a large high street retailer with very well known brand with over 250 UK based stores and a number overseas.

Situation

The company had built some great technology that gave them real time reports on sales in stores, feeding data into a data warehouse.

The executive team were concerned as to the robustness and stability of the system - was it as good as it seemed?

The development team were demoralised and were about to be poached by a competitor, as they felt they were not being recognised for the work they did.

Objective

The executive team needed to be reassured that the system was robust, secure and well designed and a transition plan needed to be established in case key personnel left the development team

Deliverable

A system wide technical audit covering design, development and support along with personnel assessments, reviews and succession plan skills profiles

Results

A comprehensive written report and presentation back to the executives establishing a clear succession plan. Following the departure of the key team, en mass to a competitor, the retailer was able to quickly engage other individuals inside the organisation and help them step up to the mark alongside external resource to continue with the development.

The system received a prestigious European IT award for innovation
